Brussels, Belgium

Job Type

Full-Time

Workspace

On-site

About the Role

You will join Agilica technical team and contribute to design, build, test, and integrate advanced positioning systems for drone & robotic applications. You will work at the intersection of electronics, embedded sensor systems, wireless technologies, robotics, and autonomy.

As a full-time engineering hire, you will work closely with Agilica founders team, contributing directly to design decisions, the technology roadmap, and the growth of the company. You will also play a key role in hands-on field test campaigns, validating systems on real drones and other unmanned systems in real environments. This is a unique opportunity to learn, shape, and build at the core of a deep-tech startup.

Requirements

You are expected to contribute across domains, including:

1) R&D on Positioning & Navigation Systems:

  • Develop and enhance Agilica local positioning system (hardware, firmware, software, and algorithms).

  • Development of new prototypes implementing sensor-fusion methods combining UWB, INS, visual odometry and so on.

2) Embedded Systems Development:

  • Embedded systems programming (C/C++) and microcontrollers integration (ARM, NordicRF, RP2040, STM32, etc.).

  • Implement communication and IoT protocols, real-time logic, and hardware drivers.

  • Participate in PCB/schematic design and hardware bring-up.

3) Drone & Robotics Integration:

  • Integrate Agilica positioning stack with ArduPilot/PX4-based UAVs, DJI drones (via SDK), and other UAV systems.

  • Configure and test MAVLink messaging, companion computer interfaces, and precision landing workflows.

  • Conduct field tests, debugging sessions, and validation campaigns.

  • Prepare technical documentation and test reports.

  • Represent Agilica in demos, industry shows, and partner meetings.

Profile Description

Minimum Requirements:

  • Master degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer Science, Robotics, or a closely related field.

  • Strong foundation in embedded systems and software development (C/C++ required).

  • Experience in hardware and software integration.

  • Familiarity with drone/robotic systems and tools.

  • Curiosity and motivation to work across multiple engineering domains.

  • Signal processing techniques and positioning algorithms.

  • Writing technical documents in English.

Personal Skills:

  • Proactive, hands-on, and ready to grow in a fast-moving startup.

Skills that will make you standout

You do not need to know everything on day one. Motivation to learn and grow is equally valuable.

  • Experience with microcontrollers (STM32, RP2040, ESP32, NordicRF, etc.).

  • Experience in electronic schematic and PCB design (e.g., Fusion 360).

  • Hardware bring-up, test equipment usage (spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes).

  • C/C++, MATLAB, Python for prototyping.

  • Familiarity with Git

  • Appreciation for clean and well-documented code

  • Signal processing, positioning algorithms, sensor fusion methodologies.

  • Real-time systems, wireless system fundamentals and communication stacks.

  • Experience with ArduPilot, PX4, or DJI SDK.

  • MAVLink messaging protocol

  • Experience in integrating sensors into drones or robots.

About the Company

Agilica is a high-tech spin-off from the Royal Military Academy (Belgium), developing alternative positioning and navigation solutions for drones and robotic systems operating in GNSS-challenged or denied environments. Our ultra-wideband (UWB) systems are already being rolled out for safe autonomous drone operations on vessels, offshore platforms, industrial sites, and complex indoor spaces. We are now expanding our technology stack into sensor-fusion based navigation, pushing the boundaries of what is possible in autonomy, robotics, and edge-space navigation.

As our full-time R&D engineer, you will play a foundational role in extending our core technology, integrating it with real UAVs and contributing to innovation projects.
